On Friday Superintendent Robert Gray said:<\/p>\n
\u201cAny police officer, at any time can pull a driver over and request they undergo a random breath test — so the community should already be well aware that they should not drink and drive.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, we know that people still make irresponsible choices when they get behind the wheel, putting themselves and other road users at risk.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m warning the community that at some stage this weekend — both in the metropolitan and country areas — we will be running a major operation conducting random breath tests.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will not be specific about where and when, I am simply urging drivers to do the right thing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis weekend\u2019s highly visible operation will see random breath testing occurring in every police District and Local Service Area across the state.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday I not only urge motorists to consider their own behaviour, but put them on notice that this type of operation will continue to occur as police do what we can to focus on the five behaviours that we know cause deaths and serious injuries on our roads.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
