Jarrod\u2019s wife Briony posted an emotional Facebook post on Tuesday:<\/p>\n
\u201cMy heart breaks as I type this message,\u201d she wrote.<\/h3>\n
\u201cEarlier today Jarrod made the decision to stop active treatment and begin palliative care.<\/h3>\n
\u201cHe has given everything that he\u2019s got to give, and his poor body cannot take anymore.<\/h3>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll be taking him closer to home in the next couple of days so he can finally leave the hospital.<\/h3>\n
\u201cWe have done our best to \u2018control\u2019 the narrative surrounding Jarrod\u2019s illness and treatment, and as more and more people become involved in this final process I\u2019m not sure how much longer this development will remain private.<\/h3>\n
\u201cJarrod knows he is loved, and the thousands of prayers and well wishes that have been sent his way have kept him going through some incredibly tough times.<\/h3>\n
\u201cBut he has reached his limit, and the docs have finally agreed that they can no longer strive for a positive outcome.<\/h3>\n
\u201cMy focus as of today is on our girls and doing whatever I can to get them through the challenges ahead.<\/h3>\n
\u201cJarrod will be closer to them very soon, and will spend as much time as he can with them.<\/h3>\n
\u201cWhen it\u2019s appropriate, I will post details of a memorial service. In the meantime we ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Jarrod had a recurrence of acute myeloid leukaemia last year.<\/p>\n\n
