Commentator Craig Foster <\/strong>says Australia<\/strong> has learnt nothing since the last World Cup after the Socceroos<\/strong> lost 2-0 to Peru<\/strong> and finished bottom of its group.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no question that we could have done more,\u201d Foster said on SBS.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIn my view, we haven\u2019t learnt from the last four years\u2026 Australia\u2019s capable of more.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Foster said it was important Australia felt the pain of its World Cup failure\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cOtherwise it is just another moment where everyone feels we almost got there. We walk away. We dust ourselves off and learn very little, if anything, and then move on to the next campaign.<\/h3>\n

\u201cWe threw out of a plan of four years and went with a completely different strategy and in the end, we should be looking at it and saying, \u2018When we went at these teams, we showed what we could do it,\u2019 but we didn\u2019t do it enough.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThat wasn\u2019t the Australian way, no\u2026 the guys went and gave everything and you can see what they\u2019ve spent in pursuit of making their nation proud\u2026 but that wasn\u2019t what we\u2019re capable of in terms of a football country. I can\u2019t accept that.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIt is not about [coach] van Marwijk — it is about us. We have to decide how we are going to approach these tournaments and we can say it was gallant and we had chances and we did, but it wasn\u2019t until the 75th minute that we decided to go and do something and we started to press them (Peru) in their half.<\/h3>\n

\u201cHow many Australians are really feeling that they wanted this Socceroos team to go at Peru and really give it to them? That\u2019s the only important question here because if there is not enough, it\u2019s not going to happen and we\u2019re going to come back and do the same thing again.<\/h3>\n

\u201cI have seen it too many times now, but if people don\u2019t feel it enough, it is not going to happen.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
