$165 million will be spent on redeveloping the international terminal building at Adelaide Airport, it was announced on Thursday.<\/h3>\n

The upgrade will also include more retail and dining options for both domestic and international travellers.<\/p>\n

International upgrades will include\u2026<\/p>\n

A second, longer baggage belt for arrivals — more space for emigration and immigration processing — expanded security screening — a larger duty free precinct for arrivals and departures — and expanded dining and retail options.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Additionally\u2026<\/p>\n

Gate 18 will become a permanent international gate and will be the focus of the improved retail and boarding facilities. Other international gates will continue to utilise Adelaide Airport\u2019s unique swing gate system to allow both international and domestic operations.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The expansion will also see a complete refurbishment of retail areas, resulting in a more than 80 per cent increase in the overall size of the terminal\u2019s retail and dining precinct across domestic and international areas.<\/p>\n

Other improvements include:<\/p>\n

– A new common user premium international lounge;<\/p>\n

– New VIP facilities for international arrivals and departures;<\/p>\n

– Relocation of the Virgin Australia Lounge; and<\/p>\n

– Expansion of office space for terminal tenants including airlines and regulatory agencies.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Work is expected to start as soon as next week and will be finished in 2021.<\/p>\n

The work will be done by QLD company Watpac. According to a statement from the business:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe project will forecast passenger growth to 2029 and will include major expansion and refurbishment works of the existing terminal.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n
