After two years in the chair, Pantelis has made the decision to continue to follow his passion for news in the FIVEAA news room, where he was previously the station’s News Director for fifteen years, also being crowned the Brian White Memorial Award winner at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew Pantelis said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I’m incredibly proud of what I achieved in two years hosting nights, especially recording a 27 share of audience 8pm-midnight, the highest since Bob Francis and then stepping into the shoes of heritage Adelaide broadcaster Leon Byner on FIVEAA Mornings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As much as I have enjoyed being on-air and chatting with our FIVEAA listeners in nights and mornings over the last four years, I asked some time ago to return to my radio roots in the FIVEAA newsroom. I love the adrenaline rush of breaking news and jumping on air with little notice and if I’m honest, I’ve missed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As we enter the new year, I’m excited to be returning to the FIVEAA newsroom to write and present news for Breakfast and Mornings and to fill in on various shifts, which I greatly enjoy. I’m very lucky to be working with an excellent management team at FIVEAA and NOVA Entertainment who value the experience I’ve accumulated over three decades.so it’s a great result for all involved.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

On taking the chair, Goodings said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019m really excited about the change. I’ve really enjoyed being part of the breakfast team presenting news for David and Will, but my first love is talking to people about the issues that affect us all. Although much of my career has been in television, radio has always been my first love. It’s where I began at 3AW in Melbourne. To be going back into radio full-time is a dream come true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Over the years I’ve filled in for many FIVEAA programs and it’s been something I’ve always looked forward to. Now, to have the opportunity to pilot my own show is an exciting challenge. There are big shoes to fill on Mornings, Leon (Byner) was king of talkback for more than 20 years and in more recent times Matthew (Pantelis) has brought his love for Adelaide and South Australia and his encyclopaedic knowledge to keep listeners informed and entertained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They are big footsteps to follow in, but I welcome the challenge. I know, at times I’ll say things that many won’t agree with and I expect some passionate debate with callers, but after all, that’s what talkback radio is all about: lively, relevant discussions on current issues.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

FIVEAA Station Manager Craig Munn said, “Matthew has done an admirable job hosting mornings over the last two years and with his decision to return back to his roots in news, we’re truly fortunate to have a presenter of Graeme’s calibre to take over the chair for Mornings. Over the past few years, Graeme has been an integral part of our station, most recently as Breakfast Newsreader, and I know he’ll connect with the FIVEAA Mornings audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Both changes are tremendous results for the station in strengthening our market leading newsroom and continuing to provide our listeners with a quality mornings program. I’m excited for what 2025 holds.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
