The state\u2019s rainfall was 78 per cent below average and it was the driest April since 2005.<\/p>\n
According to the BOM:<\/p>\n
Warmest April on record<\/strong><\/p>\n – April 2018 was South Australia’s overall warmest April on record<\/p>\n – For the State as a whole, the mean temperature was 3.42 \u00b0C warmer than average, exceeding the previous record of +3.40 \u00b0C from 2005<\/p>\n – Both daytime and overnight temperatures were warmer than average throughout the State<\/p>\n – Mean maximum temperatures were highest on record across large areas of central, eastern, and northwestern South Australia<\/p>\n – The highest temperatures occurred during the second week of the month, with the Country Fire Service issuing total fire bans for parts of South Australia during the hot and windy conditions<\/p>\n – Between the 9th and 11th, some sites reached their highest April temperature on record, many of them exceeding records from early April 2005<\/p>\n – Overnight temperatures were also very much above average across most of South Australia, including areas of highest on record through central areas of the State<\/p>\n Drier than average<\/strong><\/p>\n – April rainfall totals were below average throughout the State<\/p>\n – Little or no rain fell in the Far North during April<\/p>\n – Overall, it was South Australia’s driest April since 2005, with total rainfall 78% below average<\/p>\n\n NEW RECORD South Australia posted its warmest April on record, rainfall was 78% below average – SA's driest April since 2005 https:\/\/t.co\/5PezcdebUU<\/a> #Adelaide<\/a> posted its 2nd warmest April on record w\/10 days \u226530\u00b0 equalling April record from 1941 & 1904 https:\/\/t.co\/Y89ToYfceH<\/a> pic.twitter.com\/bZAjwepqtW<\/a><\/p>— Bureau of Meteorology, South Australia (@BOM_SA) May 1, 2018<\/a><\/blockquote>
