{"id":120411,"date":"2024-12-13T12:14:52","date_gmt":"2024-12-13T01:44:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/?p=120411"},"modified":"2024-12-13T12:15:22","modified_gmt":"2024-12-13T01:45:22","slug":"adelaide-boys-parents-arrested-over-alleged-fake-cancer-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/adelaide-boys-parents-arrested-over-alleged-fake-cancer-scam\/","title":{"rendered":"Adelaide Boy\u2019s Parents Arrested Over Alleged Fake Cancer Scam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SA Police have arrested a 44 year-old woman and a 44 year-old man from the western suburbs for criminal neglect and deception offences.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/the-fiveaa-sports-show\/interview-jordan-dawson-12-december-2024\/embed?style=cover&#038;image=1&#038;description=1&#038;download=1&#038;playlistImages=1&#038;playlistShare=1&#038;share=1&#038;subscribe=1&#038;background=f5f5f5&#038;foreground=000000&#038;highlight=000000\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"INTERVIEW: Jordan Dawson - 12 December 2024\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to SAPOL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police will allege the couple caused psychological harm to their child by falsely purporting a cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The couple have allegedly been requesting monetary donations to fund the ongoing medical treatment for their child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acting Assistant Commissions John DeCandia said both people have been refused police bail and will face court today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe matter was first reported to police on 26 November and since then Western District Child and Family Investigation Section have been working with the Department of Child Protection, the child\u2019s school and Child Protection Services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDaily risk safety assessments to ensure the short-term safety of the children involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt will be alleged that the accused shaved their six-year-old child\u2019s head, eye bows and placed them in a wheel chair with bandages to imitate stereotactic radiotherapy treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur investigation has confirmed the child is not seeking medical treatment. We believe this farce illness is causing significant and serious psychological harm to the child and their sibling.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The children have been removed from the custody of the parents and a nominated relative will provide short term care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will also be alleged that approximately $60,000 has been donated in the two-week period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have been charged with two counts of criminal neglect and deceiving another to benefit self. They were refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police are seeking anyone with information relating to this investigation, or if they believe they have donated money to the family.
