{"id":12100,"date":"2018-04-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-04-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/port-adelaide-still-waiting-on-report-into-sam-powell-pepper\/"},"modified":"2018-04-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-04-18T00:00:00","slug":"port-adelaide-still-waiting-on-report-into-sam-powell-pepper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/sport\/port-adelaide-still-waiting-on-report-into-sam-powell-pepper\/","title":{"rendered":"Port Adelaide Still Waiting On Report Into Sam Powell-Pepper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Port Adelaide CEO <strong>Keith Thomas<\/strong> says an AFL investigation into <strong>Sam Powell-Pepper<\/strong> is taking longer than it expected.<\/p>\n<blockquote><h3>&#8220;It is still with the AFL,&#8221; Thomas said on Wednesday.<\/h3>\n<h3>&#8220;We thought it might have been over by now and resolved, but it&#8217;s such an important issue.<\/h3>\n<h3>&#8220;In effect, you&#8217;ve got two, 20-year-old people involved in an incident that needs to be fully understood.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Last week a woman accused Powell-Pepper of indecent assault while the player was on a drunken night out on the town.<\/p>\n<blockquote><h3>&#8220;The AFL needs to take as much time as it needs to go through that process,\u201d Thomas said.<\/h3>\n<h3>&#8220;We think we&#8217;re getting close to the end of it, but there&#8217;s a lot involved.&#8221;<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Port Adelaide is surprised the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AFL?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@AFL<\/a>&#39;s investigation into Sam Powell-Pepper&#39;s off-field incident is still on-going. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/fLnAwtgnk8\">https:\/\/t.co\/fLnAwtgnk8<\/a><\/p>&mdash; AFL.com.au (@AFLcomau) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AFLcomau\/status\/986467457672998912?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 18, 2018<\/a><\/blockquote>&#13;\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<p>On Tuesday, Port chairman David Koch told FIVEAA the report was \u201cimminent\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><h3>\u201cThe report\u2019s being done,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re asking to look at the report.\u201d<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cThe allegations that have been made are extremely serious. When media start talking about sexual assault that elevates the situation, as it quite rightly should. There\u2019s got to be justice and evidence for all parties involved.<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cThe integrity unit and our own integrity committee have been putting together any evidence that is available. Certainly with the AFL\u2019s report we\u2019re asking to see any evidence they\u2019ve got.<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cDiscussions are coming to a conclusion and we would hope that it would be resolved sometime today because there\u2019s a lot of stress for all parties involved.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Kochie confirmed there had been no police involvement \u201cwhatsoever\u201d in the investigation.<\/p>\n<blockquote><h3>\u201cIt\u2019s so important this is done right for all involved. It\u2019s got to be absolutely clear-cut, but no chargers have been laid at all.<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cHopefully we\u2019ll get a resolution that everybody will be comfortable with.
