UPDATE, 12.35pm — Port Adelaide releases a statement about the future of the Magpies.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cPort Adelaide has not been engaged in discussions with the AFL regarding an AFL Reserves competition since 2014.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very comfortable with our current position having the Magpies represent Port Adelaide in the SANFL, as they have done for well over a century.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Writing in The Advertiser, Michelangelo Rucci says advancing plans for a national AFL reserves comp could spell the end of the Magpies and their famous prison-bar jumper.<\/p>\n

\u201cPort Adelaide would have to appear in the 18-team national reserves competition as the \u2018Power\u2019 and with the club\u2019s AFL colours of black, white, teal and silver,\u201d Rucci writes.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThis is to avoid clashing with Victorian club Collingwood, who made in clear in 1990\u2026 that the AFL could not have two clubs share the same black-and-white colours and Magpies nickname.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
