Businessman Dick Smith says the country\u2019s predicted population explosion is a disaster for the Australian way of life.<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s population is predicted to hit 40 million by the middle of the century.<\/p>\n

Smith spoke to Four Corners as part of its \u2018Big Australia\u2019 story, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cJust near here, I used to go through here as a young boy, and there were lots of houses.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThey are just around the corner there, they are gradually being knocked down.<\/h3>\n

\u201cBut that\u2019s where an Aussie family could live the Aussie dream, they could buy a house.<\/h3>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t do that anymore. You\u2019re jammed like a termite in a high rise, or I say battery chooks.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
