Two-thirds of Australian voters want deputy PM Barnaby Joyce to either move to the backbench or quit parliament entirely.<\/h3>\n

The figure was revealed in the latest Newspoll survey published by The Australian.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe poll of 1632 voters taken between February 15 and 18 found Mr Joyce had lost the confidence of the majority of Australian voters, with 65 per cent believing he should quit as Nationals leader,\u201d the paper reported on Monday. \u201cOnly 23 per cent backed Mr Joyce to remain in the job.\u201d<\/h3>\n

\u201cQueenslanders ranked above voters in all other states in demanding he resign as leader of the Nationals, and consequently as Deputy Prime Minister, but also resign from parliament immediately.<\/h3>\n

\u201cTwenty-nine per cent of voters polled believe the member for New England should step down as leader of the Nationals but still remain in parliament on the backbench, 15 per cent believe he should step down and not recontest the next election, and 21 per cent of voters say Mr Joyce should quit politics immediately.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
