Senior sports reporter at The Australian Greg Denham says coach Ken Hinkley told one of the biggest whoppers of the year while negotiating a new contract with Port Adelaide.<\/h3>\n

Denham reported<\/a> in September that Hinkley had asked for an early release from the Power, and the issue was still front of mind when the journo revealed nominations for his Gubby Award — handed out for the biggest lie of the year.<\/p>\n

“Honest Ken Hinkley for his truth bending contact with Gold Coast and manipulation to get a new deal with Port Adelaide, which he did successfully,” Greg said on SEN\u2026<\/h3>\n

\u201cSpeaking to Gold Coast and giving them a very false sense of that fact that he was prepared and willing to move up there and coach them.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Greg said the Gubby Award was \u201cnamed after Graeme Allan, who has notoriously told fibs all his life\u201d — but it wasn\u2019t won by Ken. That honour went to:<\/p>\n

“Jordan De Goey\u2026 Silly Jordan suspended and fined, for claiming he broke his hand on a door handle. Until we found out he had a bar fight.”<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
