“But can I tell you that the same people who were offending in workplaces 30 or 40 years ago are still doing it in media workplaces now, and I’ve got countless examples of that.”<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n
She said in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal in the US, the time was right to lift the lid on problems here in Australia.<\/p>\n
“They fear they’ll lose their jobs and livelihoods.”<\/h3>\n
“But for the first time I’m hearing in women’s voices the desire to take action and do something about it regardless, because of the #metoo movement.<\/h3>\n
“They feel that they’ve got protection because of the sisterhood and from our end they’ve we’ve the support of the police, unions, we’ve got four lawyers working on this, we’ve got media organisations saying they need to change their cultures from within.<\/h3>\n
“So for the first time I feel all the planets have aligned to support and protect women when they speak out.”<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
