I deeply regret that we couldn\u2019t make the relationship work,\u201d Mr Xenophon\u2019s statement said in part.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Response to claims made by Jenny Low.<br>Media Statement 3 Nov &#8211; SA-BEST <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Ip1pvkCWNB\">https:\/\/t.co\/Ip1pvkCWNB<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Nick Xenophon (@Nick_Xenophon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Nick_Xenophon\/status\/926264799532523520?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 3, 2017<\/a><\/blockquote>&#13;\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>EARLIER\u2026<\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<h3>A former staffer says Nick Xenophon \u201caggressively\u201d pursued her and the pair then carried on a \u201csecret\u201d seven-year romance before it was ended by Mr Xenophon.<\/h3>&#13;\n&#13;\n<p>The Advertiser reports Jenny Low made the comments &#8212; including claims Mr Xenophon was \u201cmanipulative and controlling\u201d &#8212; while announcing her run for the state upper house as part of the newly formed Advance SA party.<\/p>&#13;\n&#13;\n<blockquote>&#13;\n\t<h3>\u201cI was very young when the relationship began,\u201d she said on Friday.<\/h3>&#13;\n&#13;\n\t<h3>\u201cIt is not normal to be in a seven year relationship with somebody and for his family not to know.
