Port Adelaide captain Travis Boak has spoken publicly about his late father\u2019s cancer battle as part of a drive to support the state\u2019s auto workers.<\/h3>\n

Boaky\u2019s comments were made in a video used to promote the Drive Your Future<\/a> campaign following last week\u2019s closure of the Elizabeth Holden plant.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was 16 when it happened,\u201d Boak says in the video. \u201cTwo years before I got drafted.\u201d<\/h3>\n

\u201cHe was sick for a couple of years, we were told he was going to be ok, and then the cancer came back. We got told he was only going to live for a few months and he ended up fighting for two years, which was pretty impressive.<\/h3>\n

\u201cit was something that was pretty inspiring for me. Now whenever I face challenges or adversities in my life I look back at that and think, hang on, what I\u2019m going through now is nothing to what he went through.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIf I face a challenge or a hurdle I can get over it because of the lessons he taught me.\u201d<\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n
