{"id":134249,"date":"2025-11-24T12:43:22","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T02:13:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/?p=134249"},"modified":"2025-11-24T12:44:02","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T02:14:02","slug":"firefighter-dies-while-battling-a-bushire-in-sa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/firefighter-dies-while-battling-a-bushire-in-sa\/","title":{"rendered":"Firefighter Dies While Battling A Bushire In SA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A firefighter has died while battling a blaze at a conservation Park on the Eyre Peninsula.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/david-and-will\/the-happiest-father-in-australia-simon-head\/embed?style=cover\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"The Happiest Father in Australia - Simon Head\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a statement from the CFS:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of CFS firefighter Peter Curtis on Sunday afternoon while undertaking remote firefighting on the Eyre Peninsula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the time of his passing, Peter was part of a National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) brigade strike team deployed to assist with a scrub fire in Pinkawillinie Conservation Park, west of Kimba. This was part of a coordinated effort to protect the park and surrounding <a><\/a>communities under challenging conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter dedicated his life to protecting South Australia\u2019s landscapes and communities. Beginning his firefighting career with ForestrySA in 1995, he transferred to NPWS in 2017, where he served in senior leadership roles including Strike Team Leader and Sector Commander. He was deeply respected for his skill, leadership, and generosity in mentoring others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Above all, Peter was a caring and considerate person, loved by all who knew him. His loss will be felt profoundly across our organisations and the broader community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The circumstances surrounding Peter\u2019s passing are under investigation.
