{"id":134250,"date":"2025-11-24T13:15:42","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T02:45:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/?p=134250"},"modified":"2025-11-24T13:16:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T02:46:23","slug":"police-issue-update-in-search-for-gus-lamont","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/police-issue-update-in-search-for-gus-lamont\/","title":{"rendered":"Police Issue Update In Search For Gus Lamont"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Police will return to Oak Park Station on Tuesday to continue the search for four-year-old Gus Lamont who was last seen on 27 September 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/omny.fm\/shows\/david-and-will\/the-happiest-father-in-australia-simon-head\/embed?style=cover\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write\" width=\"100%\" height=\"180\" frameborder=\"0\" title=\"The Happiest Father in Australia - Simon Head\"><\/iframe>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to SAPOL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The search, which is expected to last up to three days, will involve STAR Group officers and Task Force Horizon officers using specialised equipment to search six mine shafts in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The uncovered and unfenced shafts are located between 5.5km and 12km from the Oak Park homestead in areas not searched on foot by police. Police were not previously aware of the location of these sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deputy Commissioner of Police Linda Williams said the new searches were part of ongoing investigations as part of Task Force Horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are determined to explore every avenue in an effort to locate Gus Lamont and provide some closure for his family,\u2019\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese searches will either locate evidence or eliminate these locations from further investigation by the Task Force.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This phase of the investigation is being conducted to ensure all locations of possible interest in a wide radius of the homestead are scrutinised to try and locate Gus Lamont.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 31 October 2025 police drained a large dam on the property and eliminated the possibility Gus Lamont may have drowned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This followed extensive ground and air searches of the area surrounding the Oak Park Station homestead since Gus Lamont disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 17 October 2025 police concluded a four-day ground Oak Park Station for Gus Lamont. It followed an initial 10-day search with both involving SA Police, ADF members, SES volunteers, trackers and local property owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ground searching at Oak Park Station has now extended to 5.5km from the homestead. This equates to 95 sqkm searched on foot. The original search area extended well beyond this with the use of the mounted operations unit and Polair. This area has been estimated at 470 sqkm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police had been hopeful the extensive ground searches would locate Gus or provide evidence of the direction in which Gus may have walked, but this has not been the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Task Force Horizon is conducting multiple lines of inquiry to locate Gus Lamont.
