{"id":14914,"date":"2017-06-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-06-15T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/nicole-tucker-s-family-is-not-happy-with-sentence-for-killer-driver\/"},"modified":"2017-06-15T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-06-15T00:00:00","slug":"nicole-tucker-s-family-is-not-happy-with-sentence-for-killer-driver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/nicole-tucker-s-family-is-not-happy-with-sentence-for-killer-driver\/","title":{"rendered":"Nicole Tucker\u2019s family speaks out about sentence for killer driver"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>A teenager who was driving a stolen car involved in a fiery high-speed crash that killed an Adelaide mother-of-two will be eligible for parole in 10 months.<\/h3>\n<p>The boy, who was 15 at the time, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and other offences in relation to the horror smash that claimed the life of 48-year-old Nicole Tucker in October last year.<\/p>\n<p>In the District Court on Thursday he was jailed for just over three years and four months with a non-parole period of 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>But with time already spent in custody, he will be eligible for parole in just 10 months.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Joanne Tracey described the boy&#8217;s offending as &#8220;horrifying&#8221; and said the choices he made had a devastating impact on many people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Their lives have been changed for the worst, forever,&#8221; she said on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Although sentenced as an adult the teenager, who is now 16, will serve the rest of his time in custody in a youth detention facility.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the crash he had a 17-year-old passenger in the car with him. That boy was dealt with in the Youth Court after pleading guilty to theft and various driving offences.<\/p>\n<p>The two boys stole the high-powered ute from a home in Adelaide&#8217;s south and were tracked on Adelaide&#8217;s Southern Expressway at speeds of more than 210km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>The ute was still travelling at an estimated 160km\/h when it hit the side of Ms Tucker&#8217;s car, pushing it across an intersection into two other cars.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Tucker&#8217;s car then burst into flames and she died in the wreckage.<\/p>\n<p>Outside court, her family said they would mourn her loss for the rest of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were hoping for some justice today, but I don&#8217;t think we got it,&#8221; her brother Kent Thiele said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Maybe we never would.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>-AAP<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>MOST POPULAR<\/h3>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/rowey-bicks\/superstar-trade-could-help-the-crows-land-midfield-weapon\">SUPERSTAR TRADE COULD HELP CROWS LAND MIDFIELD WEAPON<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/rowey-bicks\/cornesy-gives-port-adelaide-trolls-a-massive-whack\"><strong>GRAHAM CORNES GIVES PORT ADELAIDE \u201cTROLLS\u201d A MASSIVE WHACK<\/strong><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A teenager who was driving a stolen car involved in a fiery high-speed crash that killed an Adelaide mother-of-two will be eligible for parole in 10 months.
