{"id":15877,"date":"2017-02-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-22T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/sa-police-just-launched-a-three-day-blitz\/"},"modified":"2017-02-22T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2017-02-22T00:00:00","slug":"sa-police-just-launched-a-three-day-blitz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/sa-police-just-launched-a-three-day-blitz\/","title":{"rendered":"SA Police just launched a three day blitz"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>SAPOL announced on Wednesday that it was launching a \u201cstate-wide three-day blitz\u201d on speeding &#8212; starting today.<\/h3>\n<p>Police will be targeting excessive and \u201ccreeping\u201d speeding on metro and rural roads until midnight on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>They will also be issuing drivers with info cards produced by the Motor Accident Commission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeeding is one of the major killers on South Australian roads, contributing to around a third of deaths in recent years,\u201d says MAC\u2019s Megan Cree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany people underestimate the increase in crash risk and injury severity that comes from even low-level speeding.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are pleased to partner with SAPOL and provide factual information about the dangers of speeding to all motorists stopped as part of this state-wide blitz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust as driving under the influence increases your likelihood of a crash, each 5km\/h over the speed limit in 60km\/h zones doubles your crash risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>SAPOL\u2019s Anthony Fioravanti says \u201ccreeping over the speed limit is a widespread problem\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAn average of 18 per cent of vehicles exceed the speed limit in metropolitan 60km-zones,\u201d he said. \u201c22 per cent of vehicles exceeded the speed limit on 110km\/h rural roads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that with every kilometre over the limit the driver, their passengers and other road users are placed at greater risk of death and serious injury.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrivers who travel at excessive speeds can expect to be issued with an expiation notice, but police will also be stopping drivers and talking to them about the dangers of \u2018creeping\u2019 over the limit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOperation Safe Speed is as much about educating the public about safe speeds as it is about enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3>MOST POPULAR<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/david-and-will\/crow-ebony-marinoff-dropped-a-bombshell-this-morning\"><strong>EBONY MARINOFF DROPS A BOMBSHELL ON FIVEAA BREAKFAST<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/rowey-bicks\/teammates-were-shocked-when-they-found-out-about-rory-sloane\"><strong>ADELAIDE CROWS WERE SHOCKED WHEN THEY FOUND OUT ABOUT TEAMMATE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SAPOL announced on Wednesday that it was launching a \u201cstate-wide three-day blitz\u201d on speeding &#8212; starting today.
