{"id":16484,"date":"2016-12-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/bad-news-for-white-wine-lovers\/"},"modified":"2016-12-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-12-06T00:00:00","slug":"bad-news-for-white-wine-lovers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/lifestyle\/bad-news-for-white-wine-lovers\/","title":{"rendered":"Bad news for white wine lovers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>New research has found that drinking white wine could increase the risk of melanoma.<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cebp.aacrjournals.org\/content\/25\/12\/1550\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A study published in the Cancer, Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention<\/a> tracked the drinking habits of more than 210,000 Caucasian men and women over 18.<\/p>\n<p>It found that those who drank one glass of white wine a day increased their melanoma risk by 13 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike red wine, whites reportedly don\u2019t contain the antioxidants that can mitigate the cancer-causing chemicals in wine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would have expected both red and white wines to have very similar findings,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/newyork.cbslocal.com\/2016\/12\/01\/white-wine-linked-to-melanoma\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Hooman Khorasani from Mount Sinai Health System told CBS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would not necessarily stop drinking completely,\u201d Khorasani said. \u201cI don\u2019t think the data are strong enough to support that.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr Max Gomez from CBS also pointed out that the survey is a statistical association &#8212; \u201cmeaning it does not prove cause and effect\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The correlation with white wine could be a fluke, Dr Gomez said.<\/p>\n<h3>MOST POPULAR<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/david-and-will\/kane-cornes-tips-ban-for-reckless-impey\"><strong>KANE CORNES WEIGHS IN ON IMPEY SCANDAL<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/23-million-new-look-adelaide-festival-centre#1\"><strong>$23 MILLION NEW LOOK FESTIVAL CENTRE &#8212; PHOTOS HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New research has found that drinking white wine could increase the risk of melanoma.
