Hollywood A-lister Ben Stiller has spoken on US radio about the medical test that he says saved his life\u2026<\/h3>\n

Stiller said he started taking prostatic specific antigen (SPA) tests at 46 — four years before the test is recommended in the US and Australia<\/a> — which eventually revealed he had prostate cancer\u2026 at 48.<\/p>\n

“The PSA test is the only early screener for prostate cancer,\u201d Stiller told Howard Stern<\/a>, \u201cand right now, the United States Preventative Services Task Force does not recommend to take the test.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think American Cancer Society says you should discuss it at 50. If I hadn’t taken the test — my doctor started giving it to me at 46 — I would not have known. Right now, I still wouldn’t have known.<\/p>\n

“It came out of the blue for me\u2026 I had no idea.”<\/p>\n

Stiller is now encouraging men to take PSA test, even if they\u2019re not yet 50.<\/p>\n

“It’s part of who I am now,” Ben said. “This thing saved my life, I gotta say something.”<\/p>\n
