{"id":17156,"date":"2016-09-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-30T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/backlash-for-mundine-over-anthem-boycott\/"},"modified":"2016-09-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-09-30T00:00:00","slug":"backlash-for-mundine-over-anthem-boycott","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/sport\/backlash-for-mundine-over-anthem-boycott\/","title":{"rendered":"Backlash for Mundine over anthem boycott"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Indigenous sports star Anthony Mundine is urging players to boycott the national anthem at the AFL grand final on Saturday.<\/h3>\n<p>He says the anthem was written in the late 1700s when &#8220;blackfellas were considered fauna&#8221;\u2026<\/p>\n<p>But PM Malcolm Turnbull and Swans champ Lance Franklin has fobbed off the suggestion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think everyone should sing and everyone should just be proud about their country, our country, and the fact that we can come together in sport,&#8221; the prime minister told Neil Mitchell on 3AW radio on Friday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Asked during the AFL grand final parade about Mundine\u2019s call,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/afl\/sydney-swans\/sydney-swans-lance-franklin-labels-anthony-mundines-grand-final-boycott-idea-stupid-20160930-grs8m6.html\" target=\"_blank\">Franklin told Fairfax<\/a> it was the&nbsp;&#8220;first I&#8217;ve heard of it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Personally I think it&#8217;s pretty stupid really.
