{"id":17421,"date":"2016-09-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/smartphone-payments-on-transport-could-be-headed-our-way\/"},"modified":"2016-09-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-09-06T00:00:00","slug":"smartphone-payments-on-transport-could-be-headed-our-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/smartphone-payments-on-transport-could-be-headed-our-way\/","title":{"rendered":"Smartphone payments on transport could be headed our way"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan says smartphone public transport payments could be trialled in SA within months.<\/h3>\n<p>It would mean passengers could tap their phones when they board instead of worrying about a paper ticket or plastic Metrocard.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We think this will be one more convenient option for people to pay for public transport, perhaps if they don&#8217;t want to use cash or if they haven&#8217;t got their Adelaide Metrocard with them,&#8221; Mr Mullighan told the ABC.<\/p>\n<p>But he also issued a warning \u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You should also always keep your personal belongings safe and secure around you.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This would be the same warning that we would send out if people start using this technology on public transport.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The government hopes to be using tap-and-go payments on trains, trams and buses by the end of 2017.<\/p>\n<p>A smartphone trial is already underway in NSW &#8212; and phones are already being used to buy tickets in the UK and Germany.<\/p>\n<h3>MOST POPULAR<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/rowey-bicks\/cornesy-says-it-s-time-for-crows-to-lose-in-sanfl\"><strong>TIME FOR THE CROWS TO LOSE &#8212; SAYS GRAHAM CORNES<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/leon-byner\/tracey-grimshaw-is-hardly-a-recluse-says-peter-ford\"><strong>TV STAR LAUGHS OFF HER 35-YEAR \u201cSECRET\u201d<\/strong><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Transport Minister Stephen Mullighan says smartphone public transport payments could be trialled in SA within months.
