{"id":17650,"date":"2016-08-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-08-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/gale-force-winds-and-cold-to-batter-sa\/"},"modified":"2016-08-17T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-08-17T00:00:00","slug":"gale-force-winds-and-cold-to-batter-sa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/gale-force-winds-and-cold-to-batter-sa\/","title":{"rendered":"Gale force winds and cold to batter SA"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>A string of calm and sunny days in parts of South Australia will be interrupted on Thursday, as gale force winds and cold temperatures sweep the state.<\/h3>\n<p>The Bureau of Meteorology says the winds up to 110 km\/h will hit the western and central regions of the state before dawn, then move to the east.<\/p>\n<p>Adelaide, Ceduna, Port Lincoln, Cleve, Maitland, Clare, Victor Harbour, Lameroo and Mount Gambier are among the areas that have been warned to brace for damaging winds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bom.gov.au\/products\/IDS65503.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to the BOM<\/a>, a&nbsp;low pressure system is rapidly intensifying south of the Bight. A cold front associated with the low will move across South Australia during Thursday, reaching Ceduna late morning and a line near Adelaide to Whyalla late afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Strong to gale force north to northwesterly winds averaging 50-70 km\/h with local gusts of 90-110 km\/h are forecast to develop ahead of the front this morning.
