A police pursuit has ended with a stolen car smashing into a stobie pole at Northfield, but detectives were unable to leave their car after live power lines fell on it.<\/h3>\n

FIVEAA news reports that two thieves were arrested on the side of Grand Junction Rd following the crash just before 1pm on Wednesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The Holden was stolen from a nearby home this morning and taken on a joyride before police \u2013 including the SAPOL helicopter \u2013 took up the chase.<\/p>\n

The men walked from the crash with only minor injures.<\/p>\n

But reporting from the scene, Channel 9\u2019s Eddie Godfrey said the crash posed dangers for the police.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe collision was so hard that it actually brought down cables onto the to the road,\u201d Godfrey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose cables came down on top of a police car and two detectives inside the car were told to remain inside the vehicle until it was safe for them to leave the car.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were fears the ends of those wires were live,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
