{"id":17855,"date":"2016-07-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-07-15T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/bankrupt-bob-jane-down-to-his-last-15-dollars\/"},"modified":"2016-07-15T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-07-15T00:00:00","slug":"bankrupt-bob-jane-down-to-his-last-15-dollars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/bankrupt-bob-jane-down-to-his-last-15-dollars\/","title":{"rendered":"Bankrupt Bob Jane is down to his last $15"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Former race car driver and tyre baron Bob Jane has filed for bankruptcy and says he is down to his last $15 as he is chased by the tax office for $150m.<\/h3>\n<p>Jane was in court on Monday over a creditors petition relating to $2.9 million in debts.<\/p>\n<p>Compounding his woes, the ATO is also chasing him over capital gains taxes after the Bob Jane T-Mart tyre business was transferred to Jane\u2019s son Rodney Jane in 2006.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.heraldsun.com.au\/news\/victoria\/former-millionaire-tyre-king-bob-jane-files-for-bankruptcy\/news-story\/d37a6036e19fa81c5bc8ea155c9cadca?login=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According to the Herald Sun<\/a>, Jane\u2019s bankruptcy papers reveal:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He owns a Commodore Nascar display vehicle valued at $80,000<\/li>\n<li>He has $67,000 outstanding on two credit cards<\/li>\n<li>Unpaid wages of $188,000<\/li>\n<li>Legal fees of $208,000<\/li>\n<li>A Supreme Court costs order of $560,000<\/li>\n<li>Vehicle repair to an insurance company of $2990<\/li>\n<li>Rates to the City of Melton of $3292.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He also owes creditors $2.5m over his home.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jane has previously claimed that his son took over the famous tyre business while Jane was ill \u2013 a claim he has never been able to substantiate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all gone. I\u2019m not exaggerating, it\u2019s the fraud of the century,\u201d he told the Herald Sun in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s got all my money. But his days are numbered, trust me.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s all over, it\u2019s just a matter of time.
