Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson has tackled Port Adelaide\u2019s recent ascendancy over the league\u2019s premier team head on and called into question the Power\u2019s ability to play \u201ctough\u201d football.<\/h3>\n

Port Adelaide has beaten the Hawks in three of their past four games, and Clarko\u2019s comments are sure to add some extra spice when the club\u2019s clash again on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re probably smarting a bit from a preliminary final loss two years ago that\u2019s probably fuelled a lot of their motivation to play the last couple of times we\u2019ve played them,\u201d Clarkson told media on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut it\u2019s very hard to do that on a sustainable basis and we like to think we\u2019ve proved ourselves over a long period of time, from week to week, playing tough, hard footy and Port Adelaide are yet to prove that they can do that on a week-to-week basis.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven those comments themselves will fuel a bit of spite and so righto, well it\u2019s game on, and it is game on.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re ready to come and play.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been coming at us for three or four years, it\u2019s not just this year. We can endure and we can withstand whatever\u2019s thrown at us and there\u2019s no greater environment, more hostile environment than Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval tomorrow night.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve played some good footy but we\u2019ve been particularly disappointing in those games too,\u201d Clarkson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve ambushed us a little bit with their physicality and their starts to the games and we need to be ready for that.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Clarko\u2019s crack didn\u2019t ruffle Power coach Ken Hinkley who said the Hawthorn coach was correct. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s real, it\u2019s actual… I\u2019m not going to be able to sit here and tell Alastair Clarkson what to and what not to say. It is Clarko\u2019s choice,\u201d Hinkley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are what we are \u2014 a bit up and down.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut we are looking at it and mindful of the fact in this game to get credibility you have to do it consistently,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
