This meant customers were actually being paid to consume electricity!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"599\" width=\"1011\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/german_power_chart.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last year Germany\u2019s average renewable input was reportedly 33 per cent of the total supply, but it <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainabledevelopment.un.org\/index.php?page=view&amp;type=99&amp;nr=24&amp;menu=1449\" target=\"_blank\">plans to reach 100 per cent by 2050<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a greater share of renewable energy every year,\u201d Christoph Podewils from a German clean energy think tank told Quartz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe power system adapted to this quite nicely.
