Several high-profile premiership players \u2013 including Port Adelaide\u2019s own Kane Cornes \u2013 have spoken out and criticised Power chairman David Koch\u2019s public comments on the club\u2019s poor start to the season.<\/h3>\n

Koch sensationally labelled Port\u2019s 86-point loss to GWS two weeks a \u201cdisgrace\u201d on Twitter and then stood by the comments in a Saturday night interview ahead of Port v Geelong on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe shouldn\u2019t be responding to a fan on Twitter on a Sunday night after that performance,\u201d Kane Cornes said on radio on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he has that opinion, he needs to tell the players that first \u2014 face-to-face in a meeting.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut then last night, I would\u2019ve loved for him to come out and have said, \u2018Look, it was (in) the heat of the moment, we\u2019d had a big week, we\u2019d announced China, and then the players performed like that, I was frustrated, I sent the tweet out (and) it was the wrong place to do it.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut he didn\u2019t, he stood by his comments, and then to go even further and tell the players to harden up, it\u2019s not what the club needs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former Brisbane champ Jonathan Brown criticised Koch for speaking about a private conversation with Power captain Travis Boak during the same Saturday night segment.<\/h3>\n

\u201cFair enough he came out and responded to a fan and said they were disgraceful,\u201d Brown said on the Nova 100 breakfast show he co-hosts in Melbourne. \u201cThat\u2019s fair enough the president can say what he likes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut then during the week Travis Boak, the captain, said to Kochie the players were a little rattled by your comments. And his response was you need to harden up.<\/p>\n

\u201cFair enough. That\u2019s a private conversation. But then Kochie goes on Saturday night football and says that the players were rattled and I told them to harden up.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like that,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like the president talking about some of those private conversations. Especially when you\u2019re talking about a conversation you had with the captain.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause the captain of your football club is the conduit between the coaches and the playing group so therefore you need trust in your captain as a fellow player,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just thought that was an interesting one. I thought he overstepped the line.\u201d<\/p>\n

Also speaking on Nova, three-time premiership player and Norm Smith medallist with Hawthorn Brian Lake said Kochie\u2019s public commentary wasn\u2019t helping the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the club is under the pump like Port are \u2014 and I\u2019ve experienced it at the Bulldogs and a little bit at Hawthorn as well \u2014 you just don\u2019t need those guys saying it out in the media and grabbing more attention that the club doesn\u2019t need at the moment,\u201d Lake said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the disappointing thing. Yes, you\u2019d like them to come in and say it to the boys one on one or in front of everyone but just not out in the media. Try to be positive.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s done a very good job since he came to Port \u2013 just keep that negative stuff away from the media as much as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
