Woolworths could be facing more than $2.5 million in fines for breaching Anzac Day trading restrictions in NSW, reports news.com.au<\/a>.<\/h3>\n

Woolworths staff across the state appear to have entered stores as early as 9am, despite the retailer having been notified weeks ago that NSW law had been amended to prevent staff at large retailers from beginning work before 1pm on Anzac Day.<\/p>\n

Writing for news.com.au<\/a>, reporter Frank Chung has published customer photos of barbecue chickens and bread rolls time stamped at 10:50am and 12:49pm.<\/p>\n

Chung also reports that sushi in some stores was prepared at 10am.<\/p>\n

Opening early carries a maximum penalty of $11,000 per store, which means Woolworths could be fined up op $2.75 million if every store is found to have breached the law.<\/p>\n

\u201cAny alleged breaches will be investigated by NSW Industrial Relations inspectors,\u201d NSW Industrial Relations Minister Gladys Berejiklian said.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Woolworths said: \u201c\u201cClear direction was given to stores that volunteer salaried managers were allowed to enter and undertake certain limited preparations for opening at 1:00pm.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is in line with the NSW regulations. We were keen to ensure our customers\u2019 shopping experience today, as on all days, met their expectations.\u201d<\/p>\n
