UPDATE (2:31pm)<\/h3>\n

ASADA has announced it will investigate an admission made through the media by Stephen Dank that he supplied Nathan Bock with prohibited substance CJC-1295 while the defender was playing for the Gold Coast Suns.<\/p>\n

ASADA had previously cleared Bock because it was unable to establish whether he had used the banned peptide.<\/p>\n

STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

“ASADA considers all information relating to potential anti-doping violations, and this new information, particularly its veracity, will be assessed by our investigation unit. <\/em><\/p>\n

“Over the last three years, Mr Dank has consistently refused to speak to ASADA’s investigators. ASADA spoke with Mr Dank today, and he again refused to offer any assistance or information.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Mr Dank’s alleged admissions overnight are starkly at odds with his previous position on the matter, as ASADA notes he is currently appealing the AFL Tribunal’s finding that he attempted to traffic CJC-1295 to the Gold Coast Suns.<\/em><\/p>\n

“ASADA needs reliable evidence and testimony in order to be able to bring forward cases of possible anti-doping violations.<\/em><\/p>\n

“The journalist in question has been approached today by ASADA and requested to provide the details of conversations he has had with Mr Dank.”<\/em><\/p>\n

EARLIER<\/strong><\/p>\n

Controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank has claimed that he supplied Nathan Bock with a banned peptide while the former Crow was playing for the Gold Coast Suns in 2010.<\/h3>\n

Dank has told the Herald Sun<\/a> that he travelled with a cooler bag containing CJC-1295 on a flight to the Gold Coast where he gave it to Suns fitness coach Dean Robinson who showed Bock how to use it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI bought it at the Belgrave pharmacy in Sydney and delivered it to Robinson\u2019s house,\u201d Dank said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom there, Robinson demonstrated to Bock how to use it and instructed him accordingly.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said there was \u201cno doubt in my mind\u201d the drug he supplied Bock with was the WADA banned CJC-1295.<\/p>\n

But on Tuesday ASADA said an investigation had failed to establish whether the drug Bock used was actually CJC-1295.<\/p>\n

An ASADA spokesperson said: \u201cTo prove that an athlete has used a prohibited substance, ASADA must be able to prove the substance used by that athlete.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cASADA will not bring a case forward when there is insufficient evidence of the substance used.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dank contrasted the comments with ASADA\u2019s investigation into the Essendon supplement scandal.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know why they couldn\u2019t establish that it was CJC-1295 when they think they\u2019ve established that I gave (Essendon players) Thymosin beta-4, which they can\u2019t,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Bock told ASADA in 2013 that he injected himself with a substance given to him by Robinson between December 16, 2010 and January 27, 2011.<\/p>\n
