{"id":18970,"date":"2016-03-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/all-female-flight-crew-touch-down-in-saudi-arabia\/"},"modified":"2016-03-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-03-18T00:00:00","slug":"all-female-flight-crew-touch-down-in-saudi-arabia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/all-female-flight-crew-touch-down-in-saudi-arabia\/","title":{"rendered":"All-female flight crew touch down in Saudi Arabia"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Royal Brunei Airlines\u2019 first all-female flight crew has touched down in Saudi Arabia \u2013 a country where they wouldn\u2019t be allowed to drive a car.<\/h3>\n<p>Captain Sharifah Czarena Surainy Syed Hashim, Senior First Officer Dk Nadiah Pg Khashiem and Senior First Officer Sariana Nordin flew a Boeing 787 from Brunei to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia on 23 February, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/asia\/royal-brunei-airlines-first-all-female-flight-deck-crew-lands-plane-in-saudi-arabia-where-women-are-a6931726.html\" target=\"_blank\">reports The Independent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"All-female flight crew touch down in Saudi Arabia | FIVEAA\" title=\"All-female flight crew touch down in Saudi Arabia | FIVEAA\" height=\"1026\" width=\"1368\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/flight1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>Image |&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/royalbruneiair\/\" target=\"_blank\">Royal Brunei Airlines<\/a><\/h6>\n<h3>The occasion was used to mark Brunei\u2019s National Day and comes three years after Captain Czarena became the first female captain of a flag carrier in Southeast Asia.<\/h3>\n<p>At the time, she said she was proud of her achievement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing a pilot, people normally see it as being a male dominant occupation,\u201d Captain Czarena told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bt.com.bn\/2012\/11\/15\/rb-female-pilots-record-se-asia\" target=\"_blank\">The Brunei Times in 2012<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a woman, a Bruneian woman, it is such a great achievement.
