Scientists have successfully grown dinosaur legs onto a genetically engineered chicken embryo in an incredible world first.<\/h3>\n

The experiment was done to help scientists piece together the anatomical changes that have occurred between dinosaurs including tyrannosaurus and velociraptor, and their living descendants: birds, reports IFLScience<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The researchers from the University of Chile have published their findings in the science journal Evolution<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The scientists found that when they inhibited the IHH gene in the embryo, the chicken grew long, dinosaur-like fibulae. Normally a chicken\u2019s fibulae don\u2019t reach the ankle, but becomes more splinter-like as they grow.<\/p>\n

Although this was the first such experiment, it\u2019s not the first time scientists have manipulated chickens into growing dinosaur features.<\/h3>\n

In 2015 scientists developed a chicken embryo with a dinosaur-like snout<\/a> instead of a beak.<\/p>\n

But back to the chicken with dinosaur legs and the question we\u2019re all asking\u2026<\/p>\n

Unfortunately no, they weren\u2019t allowed to hatch. The dream of a pet dinosaur will have to wait a while longer yet.<\/p>\n
