{"id":19075,"date":"2016-03-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-09T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/man-who-sold-his-baby-to-buy-an-iphone-has-been-jailed\/"},"modified":"2016-03-09T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-03-09T00:00:00","slug":"man-who-sold-his-baby-to-buy-an-iphone-has-been-jailed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/man-who-sold-his-baby-to-buy-an-iphone-has-been-jailed\/","title":{"rendered":"Man who sold his baby to buy an iPhone has been jailed"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Image | Getty<\/h6>\n<h3>A Chinese man who sold his baby online has been given a three year jail term.<\/h3>\n<p>The man, 19, whose real name has not been released, and the baby\u2019s mother, 19, also unnamed, sold their daughter when she was only 18 days old.<\/p>\n<p>The man found a buyer on social media site QQ and sold the baby girl for 23,000 Yuan (about AUD $4,600), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/n3\/1983332-chinese-19-year-old-who-sold-daughter-to-buy-iphone-and-motorbike-turns-himself-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reports the Epoch Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The parents were reportedly under financial pressure after the unwanted pregnancy, and made the decision to sell their baby so they could purchase goods including an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/n3\/1983332-chinese-19-year-old-who-sold-daughter-to-buy-iphone-and-motorbike-turns-himself-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iPhone and a motorbike<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The mother, who was given a suspended two-and-a-half year sentence, said she did not realise what they had done was a crime.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I myself was adopted, and many people in my hometown send their kids to other people to raise them.
