Calling it a case of \u201clife imitating art\u201d, scientists have discovered how to effectively upload knowledge to your brain \u2013 just like in the popular film The Matrix<\/em>.<\/h3>\n

In the film, Keanu Reeves\u2019 character Neo learns kung fu in seconds after the martial art is uploaded straight into his brain.<\/p>\n

Now scientists have developed a simulator that can feed information directly into a person\u2019s brain and teach them new skills in a shorter amount of time, reports The Telegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Researchers from HRL Laboratories<\/a> studied electric signals in the brain of a trained pilot and then fed the data into beginners as they learned to fly inside a simulator.<\/p>\n

A study the researchers published in the Frontiers in Human Neuroscience journal<\/a> found that subjects who received the brain stimulation improved their flying abilities and learnt the task 33 per cent better than those who didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Dr Matthew Phillips says the system is one of the first of its kind anywhere.<\/h3>\n

“It sounds kind of sci-fi, but there’s large scientific basis for the development of our system,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

“The specific task we were looking at was piloting an aircraft, which requires a synergy of both cognitive and motor performance.<\/p>\n

“When you learn something, your brain physically changes. Connections are made and strengthened in a process called neuro-plasticity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt turns out that certain functions of the brain, like speech and memory, are located in very specific regions of the brain, about the size of your pinky.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat our system does is it actually targets those changes to specific regions of the brain as you learn,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
