<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smh.com.au\/technology\/sci-tech\/abcs-catalyst-criticised-for-linking-wifi-with-brain-tumours-20160216-gmw45o.html?&amp;utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=social&amp;eid=socialn%3Afac-14omn0012-optim-nnn%3Apaid-25062014-social_traffic-all-postprom-nnn-smh-o&amp;campaign_code=nocode&amp;promote_channel=social_facebook\" target=\"_blank\">Professor Croft told the Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Given that radiofrequency emissions are one of the most heavily researched agents that science has ever assessed, and given that (contrary to Catalyst&#8217;s claims) no substantiated health effects have emerged, we can be very confident that the emissions are indeed safe,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The ABC report featured Devra Davis, a US cancer epidemiologist, who claims the lack of increase in brain cancer rates is due to cancer\u2019s long latency.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ABC report linking Wi-Fi and cancer criticised by experts | FIVEAA\" title=\"ABC report linking Wi-Fi and cancer criticised by experts | FIVEAA\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/davis.jpg\" width=\"620\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>Devra Davis<\/h6>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SimonChapman6?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor\" target=\"_blank\">emeritus professor of public health Simon Chapman<\/a> labelled Ms Davis\u2019 comments \u201ccomplete rubbish \u2013 it is just crap\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have had mobiles in Australia since 1988 &#8211; however, there is no proven biological mechanism for electromagnetic waves to cause cancer,&#8221; said Dr Swan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The program did not take into account that young people are not holding their mobile phones to their heads &#8211; usually they are texting or Facebooking.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And I&#8217;m not convinced by the argument that there is a 40-year lag in the development of cancer &#8211; we often see signs after much less time that that,&#8221;
