{"id":19440,"date":"2016-02-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/uk-woman-says-drinking-fruit-juice-is-helping-her-beat-cancer\/"},"modified":"2016-02-10T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2016-02-10T00:00:00","slug":"uk-woman-says-drinking-fruit-juice-is-helping-her-beat-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/uk-woman-says-drinking-fruit-juice-is-helping-her-beat-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"UK woman says drinking fruit juice is helping her beat cancer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h6>Image | <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/halfdaydiet1\/status\/696442739374686209\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a><\/h6>\n<h3>A woman in the UK who was given weeks to live has claimed that drinking fresh fruit juice is helping her beat cancer.<\/h3>\n<p>Natasha Grindley, 37, was told she only had weeks to live in July 2014 after doctors found she had stomach cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was utterly devastated when doctors told me I had two weeks to live,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-3437598\/Nursery-teacher-given-just-two-weeks-live-claims-JUICING-helping-beat-cancer-18-months-later.html?ito=social-facebook\" target=\"_blank\">Ms Grindley told the Daily Mail<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt all happened quite quickly and they put a camera down and I could see that it was my stomach and had spread to my lymph nodes, my neck and all of my abdomen really.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a very, very dark time for a while and me and my husband started reading constantly to find alternative therapies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey didn&#8217;t know that it was stomach cancer at the time and I don&#8217;t think that they could have told me because I would have been too heartbroken to hear it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Natasha Grindley | FIVEAA\" title=\"Natasha Grindley | FIVEAA\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/grindley2.jpg\" width=\"634\" height=\"437\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>Natasha Grindley | Image | Iain Watts\/Mercury Press<\/h6>\n<h3>Ms Grindley immediately started chemotherapy, but says she also looked into alternative therapies and switched from a fatty and sugary diet to something more nutritious.<\/h3>\n<p>Her cancer reduced in size within weeks, and Ms Grindley puts this down to her healthy eating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen I started changing my diet, I looked better than I had done for years, even though I was obviously very ill,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was going through, and still am, undergoing chemotherapy treatment every three weeks but people were saying to me \u2018you don&#8217;t look ill\u2019 and I put it down to the changes I made in my diet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReading about alternative therapies and finding new nutritious food became my obsession.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd, when I started cutting out the likes of meats and alcohol, things started picking up about six months later.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI used the foods to power up my immune system and that helps me because my blood is then ready for chemo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI noticed that every time I made a change to my diet, I saw a positive difference in how I felt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Grindley now runs a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/YouCanHealForReal\/\" target=\"_blank\">Facebook page called Heal for Real<\/a> dedicated to helping people fight cancer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"UK woman says drinking fruit juice is helping her beat cancer | FIVEAA\" title=\"UK woman says drinking fruit juice is helping her beat cancer | FIVEAA\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/grindley-facebook.jpg\" width=\"1108\" height=\"739\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>She explained the page\u2019s philosophy in a post published in January.<\/h3>\n<p>\u201cOur belief is that cancer is not a disease. It is a symptom,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/YouCanHealForReal\/photos\/a.940765902636503.1073741829.846001902112904\/982844888428604\/?type=3&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\">the post reads<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s the result of your body not having the right tools or immune strength to remove an overload of harmful toxins from your system. Give it the right tools and it can do the job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But experts have warned against relying on lifestyle factors to cure cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no evidence that diet alone will help without the chemotherapy,\u201d oncologist Professor Karol Sikora told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the chemotherapy, a healthy diet and exercise is beneficial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it\u2019s not a cure, you need conventional treatment too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDifferent people react to cancer in different ways and one has to respect that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOxygen therapy and homeopathy, these alternative therapies offer false hope.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no evidence they work.
