Questions of consistency are being asked by some after Hollywood stars Leslie Mann and Dakota Johnson told a male interviewer to take his shirt off in a \u201ccar crash\u201d interview, which caused no stir compared with cricketer Chris Gayle\u2019s infamous interview with Mel McLaughlin.<\/h3>\n

Writing about the Mann and Johnson interview for The Telegraph<\/a>, Martin Daubney said:<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d be forgiven if you missed the most cringe-worthy, crass and sexist celebrity interview in living memory earlier this week \u2013 because, tellingly, none of the usual media organs or commentators who perpetually rage about gender inequality chose to cover it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That was because the target of the \u201cdrooling, sexually objectifying interview was a man\u201d, wrote Daubney.<\/p>\n

In the interview \u2013 which Daubney described as a \u201ccar crash\u201d \u2013 for their film How To Be Single, the stars flirt with male interviewer Van Vliet \u2013 a former Bachelor of the Year.<\/p>\n

Mann says, \u201cYou\u2019re handsome! Look! Hot guy\u201d! before Johnson tells Vliet to take off his shirt, adding: \u201cYou look like you pump iron. You get swolled up. Swole patrol.\u201d<\/p>\n

Daubney compared the interview \u2013 and the lack of outrage \u2013 with Chris Gayle\u2019s notorious \u201cDon\u2019t blush, baby\u201d interview with Mel McLaughlin during the Big Bash tournament, in which Gayle asked the female reporter out for a drink.<\/h3>\n

He quoted a tweet by Piers Morgan<\/a>, retweeted more than 400 times, in which Morgan described the differing reactions as \u201cutter hypocrisy\u201d.<\/p>\n

Daubney said there was \u201cnear-total silence\u201d from many media outlets over the antics of Mann and Johnson.<\/h3>\n

\u201cYou know they\u2019d have been giving it both barrels if the gender roles were flipped,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Gayle triggered outrage when he asked female sports reporter Mel McLaughlin out for a drink during an in-game interview earlier in the year.<\/p>\n
