UK man Jordon Cox \u2013 also known as \u201cThe Coupon Kid\u201d \u2013 has made headlines around the world after going to extraordinary lengths to save a few dollars.<\/h3>\n

Instead of buying a train ticket for \u00a347 (95.05 AUD) to get him from Sheffield to his home in Essex, Jordon decided to go 1,017 miles (1,636 kms) out of his way to save\u2026<\/p>\n

\u00a37.72.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s about $16 Aussie dollars.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When Jordon realised he could book a flight \u2013 via Berlin! \u2013 for less than he could get the train, the decision appears to have been a NO-BRAINER for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that flying is not very environmentally friendly and I won\u2019t do this every time I travel, however this was the cheapest way for me to get home and I got to enjoy a \u2018free\u2019 mini holiday to a city I\u2019ve always always wanted to visit,\u201d Jordon wrote at moneysavingexpert.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven by my usual standards, I\u2019ll admit this is a rather extreme way of saving money,\u201d he said.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIt turned out that flying out from East Midlands Airport to Berlin, spending seven hours exploring the city and then flying to Stansted and getting the bus home was cheaper than a single train journey in England.\u201d<\/p>\n

And just when you thought Jordon had reached Peak Thrift\u2026<\/p>\n

He also worked out how to take a tour of Berlin and still come out ahead.<\/p>\n
