The man responsible for a viral video in which he forced his wife to walk naked through the streets of New York after he caught her sexting other men has now been arrested, according to reports.<\/h3>\n

Police sources have revealed that Jason Melo, 24, beat and choked his 22-year-old girlfriend in their Harlem apartment \u2013 in front of her 3-month-old daughter \u2013 before forcing the woman into the cold to film his humiliating video, says New York Daily News.<\/p>\n

Melo reportedly punched the victim in the face and crotch and threatened to kill her if she didn\u2019t disrobe, put on a towel and leave the apartment.<\/h3>\n

As the video went viral, Melo published a series of social media posts in which he started out defiant but was reduced to begging for forgiveness.<\/p>\n

\u201cJason Melo here. I want to ask all women for forgiveness. I want them to know, that really, I didn’t want this to – I didn’t think this would – get to this point,\u201d he says in a video posted on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe, I made a mistake, to do what I did, from the beginning to take her out naked. I really regret this. If I could turn back time, I wouldn’t do it. Because in my mind, so much has happened to me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI came from a woman, I have a daughter, and I have two sisters. But look what you pushed me to do. I am sorry for everything. This the last video I will make, I don’t want any interviews, I don’t want anything,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Melo was arrested on Wednesday and is awaiting arraignment on charges of choking, child abuse, coercion and assault.<\/h3>\n

The city was shocked when Melo\u2019s shameful video went viral earlier in the week, prompting New York First Lady Chirlane McCray to speak out against domestic violence.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarlier this week a video emerged that depicted intimate partner violence on a sidewalk in our city. The video displayed verbal abuse, forced humiliation, and harassment by the alleged offender, directed at his wife,\u201d Ms McCray said.<\/p>\n

\u201cPosting that video online perpetuated the abuse, which New York City does not tolerate. We are steadfast in our efforts to make sure all victims of abuse are aware of the many resources available as we strive to make New York City’s public and private spaces safe for all women and girls.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally the man tears the towel from his wife, leaving her completely exposed.<\/h3>\n

\u201cTake off your towel and pay the price for the shame I feel after telling you how pretty you were and that I wanted to start a family with you, but it the meantime you were talking to seven other men,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
