A driving holiday through South America has pushed one family to its limits after a husband drove almost 100 kilometres before realising he had left his wife behind at a petrol station.<\/h3>\n

It seems like an impossible mistake to make, but the man’s wife had been sleeping on the back seat before going into the shop to buy supplies, failing to cross paths with her husband who had gone to the toilet after filling the car with petrol, reports The Telegraph.<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s 14-year-old son, busy playing on his phone in the front seat, apparently also failed to notice his mother was missing.<\/p>\n

The family were driving back to Argentina following a holiday in Brazil, and The Telegraph reports that the man drove 60 miles (96.5 kilometres) while he\u2019s stranded wife was unable to contact him due to lack of mobile phone coverage.<\/p>\n

Eventually staff at the petrol station contacted police who took the woman to a local station until her husband returned.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was very angry. She was moaning at him for taking so long to realise,\u201d a Brazilian police officer said. \u201cThere was no physical assault, but she was more upset when I saw the husband.\u201d<\/p>\n

The officer said when her husband finally returned two hours later, the woman\u2019s irritation was clear when she kicked the car.<\/p>\n
