A grandfather is under police guard in a Brisbane hospital after a brutal stabbing attack left his baby granddaughter dead.<\/h3>\n

Police say the man and his wife, both in their 50s and visiting from China, are in intensive care after being operated on at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.<\/h3>\n

Their 28-year-old daughter, the dead girl’s mother, is in a serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n

Police have brought in Chinese interpreters to assist with their investigations.<\/p>\n

They have been able to speak to the child’s mother, though she is yet to give a formal statement.<\/p>\n

Police rushed to a home on Watheroo Place, Parkinson, on Wednesday afternoon after the baby’s mother fled to a nearby house seeking help.<\/p>\n

Officers found the two-month-old girl and her grandparents with serious injuries.<\/p>\n

The baby died shortly after being transferred to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.<\/p>\n

The Courier-Mail has published footage of the immediate aftermath of the incident, in which the man can be seen covered in blood and lying on the ground as he is handcuffed by two officers.<\/p>\n

The stabbing attack has deeply upset those living in the neighbourhood south of Brisbane.<\/p>\n

Sun Gill said he was outside feeding his dog when he heard loud screams.<\/p>\n

“I ran outside down the street then and I saw him (the grandfather) walking down the street with blood pouring from him,” he told The Courier-Mail.<\/p>\n

A woman living nearby described the attack as shocking.<\/p>\n

“Pretty good neighbourhood so we are quite surprised to come home and find something like this on our doorsteps,” she told ABC radio.<\/p>\n
