It was the story that left two hosts fighting off tears and struggling for words.<\/h3>\n

On Wednesday night The Project covered a story of two sisters who are battling with a disease that\u2019s damaging their liver, eating their muscles and making their eyes so sensitive that they sting in the light.<\/a><\/p>\n

The two sisters – Jaydale Conci, 7, and Jennifer Conci, 9,  have stumped doctors with the condition – nobody knows what it is, but they know it\u2019s slowly killing the two young girls.<\/p>\n

The condition got so bad a few weeks ago, that Jennifer had to get an emergency liver transplant – they\u2019re hoping this gives a few more years, although it won\u2019t save her.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we know about the girls is they have what I\u2019d call an ultra-rare condition,\u201d says geneticist Dr Sue White, \u201cextremely unusual – in fact we don\u2019t know of any other children with exactly the same pattern of problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

The girls have spent most their short lives in hospitals and doctors\u2019 rooms.<\/p>\n

\u201cJennifer\u2019s had 5 liver biopsies,\u201d says Rebecca. \u201cWe\u2019ve spent nights over at the Children\u2019s Hospital doing things like endoscopies, gastroscopies, colonoscopies\u2026 and loads of blood tests.\u201d<\/p>\n

They only discovered recently that Jaydale is heading down the same path.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey tested Jaydale for it and within 6 months we knew her liver was heading down the same path as Jennifer\u2019s,\u201d Rebecca explains.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo see the second present with it\u2026 it\u2019s confusing and it\u2019s hard to get your head around.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJennifer\u2019s been the guinea pig the whole time,\u201d adds Jason, \u201cand Jayda\u2019s been watching her go through it knowing she\u2019s got all this to look forward to.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s obvious already with her eyes changing colour that it\u2019s on the cards, it will happen,\u201d Rebecca says of Jaydale.<\/p>\n

The family\u2019s youngest daughter Rivvah has been spared from the disease – but the majority of the 3-year-old\u2019s life has been spent following the family in and out of hospitals.<\/p>\n

To add insult to injury, parents Jason and Rebecca have both had to give up full time work to care for the girls full time – and now they are facing losing their dream home, which they finished building earlier this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe house is important because we want them to grow up and feel safe and secure in a beautiful town, in a beautiful home, that\u2019s why we bought it, but at the end of the day, if we lose the house, it\u2019s a house. And the kids come first.\u201d<\/p>\n

The local community has rallied behind the Conci family with local fundraising going on behind the scenes – but they need way more money for hospital fees and living costs.<\/p>\n

The story left Waleed and Carrie speechless and fighting off tears as the package ended and threw back to them – it was clear how deeply impacted they were.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only positive thing I can say is that you can donate to them,\u201d Waleed trailed off.<\/p>\n

Within five minutes of the story airing, the Conci family\u2019s gofundme page gained around $50K.<\/span><\/p>\n
