What if the “happiest place on Earth” was right here in Australia…<\/h3>\n

There are reports China’s richest man is preparing to build a major theme park on the Gold Coast to rival Dreamworld and Movie World.<\/p>\n

Wang Jianlin’s Chinese company, the Wanda Group, is negotiating a deal with the Queensland State Government to build a multi-billion dollar attraction at Coomera.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Gold Coast Bulletin, the group’s general manager Xie Hong said theme parks were a large focus of the company’s international plans.<\/p>\n

Explaining that the project was still under negotiation, he said, “Wanda in Australia has already acquired the biggest cinema company in the country and theme parks are one of the things Wanda wants to invest in in the future.”<\/p>\n

And it looks as though Coomera MP Michael Crandon thinks it’s a good idea as well as it will boost tourism to the northern Gold Coast.<\/p>\n

He told the publication, \u201cI would bet the other theme parks in the area will want this because it will bring more people into the area.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rumours the new park could be a Disneyland have been reported by a number of media, but Xie declined to comment about whether the park would be a Disney park.<\/p>\n

The Wanda Group recently built a $2.5 billion theme park in Yunnan, China, which also included world-class hotels.<\/p>\n
