There\u2019s a wild conspiracy theory doing the rounds in the wake of Ronda Rousey\u2019s loss to Holly Holm in Melbourne on Sunday suggesting that the whole thing was “rigged”.<\/h3>\n

The fight rolled out in front of a crowd of 56,000 at Etihad Stadium who all watched Rousey suffer a shock knockout loss against Holm – her first UFC defeat.<\/p>\n

According to a former WWE star and heavy weight champion Taz, Holm\u2019s loss was all part of a strategic plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe first thing that jumped out at me was, OK: I think the finish of the fight might have been rigged,\u201d Taz said on his podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s say I am right. UFC would not be reinventing the wheel by fixing a fight. This was going on for 50, 60, 70, 80 years in boxing. This is not a new thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

But why?<\/h3>\n

The theory is that 28-year-old Rousey\u2019s six months to follow are going to be absolutely hectic, making it difficult to take upcoming fights.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has been done in the wrestling industry for years. A guy or girl is going to take a break or go away, or has an injury that they have to tend to, whatever the reasons are, and they\u2019re a champion \u2013 you take the championship off of them.<\/p>\n

\"ronda\"<\/p>\n

\u201cYou do not want your champion sitting home or making a movie, \u2018Roadhouse 2\u2032 or whatever Rousey\u2019s going to do, or just needs a personal break, which she\u2019s earned. This girl\u2019s earned it. But you don\u2019t want that person sitting home for five, six, seven months with that championship. It\u2019s bad for business. Take the belt off her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tax examines the actual knock out.<\/h3>\n

\u201cIf you look at the actual KO \u2013 now, she did get nailed, Rousey, with several shots before the finish of the fight,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing that was like, \u2018Oh my god,\u2019 but she got popped a few times. But if you look at the actual knockout, as Rousey, she went for kind of a lazy punch or something \u2013 not lazy but she kind of missed \u2013 and as she spun to turn around her back was kind of turned to Holm. And as she slowly turned, a high round kick, I believe it was the left foot, or left leg of Holm, catches Rousey, drops Rousey, and then Holm grounds and pounds for three shots \u2013 boom, boom, boom. Ref gets in the middle, fight\u2019s over, new champion Holly Holm.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m telling you right now, that whole series, was the work. And I\u2019m not sure who was in on it and who wasn\u2019t but I know this much: the ref probably wasn\u2019t in on it. Maybe he was I don\u2019t know. Rousey was in on it \u2013 and again, this is all my opinion. Holm might not have been in on it.\u201d<\/p>\n
