{"id":21204,"date":"2015-10-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/uncategorized\/five-arrested-during-sydney-terror-raids\/"},"modified":"2015-10-06T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2015-10-06T00:00:00","slug":"five-arrested-during-sydney-terror-raids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/news\/five-arrested-during-sydney-terror-raids\/","title":{"rendered":"Five arrested during Sydney terror raids"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Two teenagers are among five males arrested in early morning counter-terror raids across western Sydney linked to the fatal shooting of police accountant Curtis Cheng.<\/h3>\n<p>More than 200 officers executed a co-ordinated series of warrants in Guildford, Wentworthville, Merrylands and Marsfield about 6am on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The group have been taken into custody and will be interviewed at various police stations in relation to Friday&#8217;s shooting of Mr Cheng, 58, outside police headquarters at Parramatta.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"673\" width=\"1016\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/screen_shot_2015-10-07_at_8.22.17_am.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>Image |&nbsp;@7NewsSydney via Twitter<\/h6>\n<p>They include a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old from Wentworthville, a 22-year-old and a 24-year-old from Merrylands and a 22-year-old from Marsfield.<\/p>\n<p>The raids come after a 17-year-old boy who attended the same high school as the teenager who fatally shot Mr Cheng was arrested on his way to school on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>That boy&#8217;s Guildford home was raided by police on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p>A witness told AAP on Wednesday there was a large police presence at the home earlier in the day and it wasn&#8217;t the first time officers had visited the home, with police also at the address last Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The 17-year-old Arthur Phillip High School student allegedly posted on social media that he hoped &#8220;them lil piggies get shot&#8221; and that &#8220;merryland (sic) police station is next hope they all burn in hell&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The teen was later charged over the allegedly threatening social media posts and assaulting police.<\/p>\n<p>He will face six charges when he fronts a children&#8217;s court on November 9.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cheng, who had worked for NSW Police for 17 years, was gunned down from behind by 15-year-old Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar on Friday afternoon as he left for the day.<\/p>\n<p>The teen continued to fire until he was shot dead on Charles Street by officers.<\/p>\n<p>The arrests on Wednesday were the result of a joint investigation by the NSW State Crime Command&#8217;s Homicide Squad and the Australian Federal Police.<\/p>\n<p><em>-AAP<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/shows\/rowey-bicks\/graham-cornes-drops-stephen-rowe-into-west-coast-saga\">GRAHAM CORNES DROPS STEPHEN ROWE INTO WEST COAST SAGA<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.fiveaa.com.au\/sport\/adelaide-crows-should-settle-for-compensation-pick-says-paul-connors\">DANGERFIELD&#8217;S MANAGER TELLS CROWS: SETTLE FOR COMPO PICK<\/a><\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Two teenagers are among five males arrested in early morning counter-terror raids across western Sydney linked to the fatal shooting of police accountant Curtis Cheng.
