Port Adelaide chief executive officer Keith Thomas has defended the club\u2019s supporters amid a social media storm in the aftermath of Showdown 39.<\/h3>\n

Following Port\u2019s narrow loss to the Crows in Showdown 39, Adelaide identity Graeme Goodings published a Facebook post criticising some of the Power fans at the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cPort supporters booing Tex Walker as he went up to speak. Really?,\u201d wrote Goodings.<\/p>\n

\u201cPretty pathetic considering the epic and wonderful battle between the two clubs in celebration of Phil Walsh\u2019s life. You are an embarrassment to your club.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In a message to members and supporters posted on portadelaidefc.com.au, Keith Thomas was critical of Goodings\u2019 \u201cdecision to identify a single, non- consequential moment\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith so many overwhelmingly positive opportunities to highlight everything that is good about our game and our supporters, why spend time rubbishing them?\u201d said Thomas.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that commentary was upsetting to the Port Adelaide faithful. It was unjust, not representative of the sentiment of the night.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all know that all Clubs have supporters who let themselves down at times. All Clubs\u2026 But name calling won\u2019t fix that.\u201d<\/p>\n
