Swedish blood donors are now being informed via text when they save a life.<\/h3>\n

The simple act of blood donating can be life changing.<\/p>\n

In Sweden, in an attempt to encourage donations, blood donors are now receiving a text once their blood has been used on a sick patient.<\/span><\/p>\n

The initiative started as a test three years ago and now is being rolled out country wide due to it\u2019s effectiveness and popularity. <\/p>\n

Communications Manager for the Stockholm Blood Service Karolina Blom Wilberg, told The Independent she has seen a huge return rate from donors in response to the scheme. <\/p>\n

\u201cAbove all,  we have received such positive feedback [from the initiative] that it has made the donors come back to us and donate again.\u201d<\/p>\n

By sending a text, the organisers not only hope that an awareness of blood stock levels is raised, but that it gains social traction and becomes something that is done in other countries. <\/p>\n
