This family did a Batman-themed photo shoot on railroad tracks for their little son’s entertainment. What they didn’t expect was the backlash.<\/h3>\n

This family of three thought it would be a cute idea to stage a series of images of their 15 month old son dressed as Robin, helping dad dressed as Batman saving mum from being tied to railroad tracks.<\/p>\n

The proud parents then took to Facebook to post the images, which were an early Father’s Day gift from mum Roxanne to her husband.<\/p>\n

What the couple didn’t expect was the vicious backlash they copped for the images.<\/p>\n

“People threatened us,” dad Mike told People magazine.<\/p>\n

“Some said that our son should be taken from us. We’re good parents and we would never have done anything to deliberately harm anybody.”<\/p>\n

What provoked the backlash?<\/p>\n

Mike and Roxanne have no idea.<\/p>\n

Why did Roxanne organise the shoot?<\/p>\n

Mike loves Batman.<\/p>\n

“I love him because he’s a normal guy, as far as superheroes go. He’s got a lot of money but doesn’t have any superpowers,” Mike said.<\/p>\n

“And if you really know the character, you know he’s completely psychotic but people look at him like this hero.”<\/p>\n

“Our photos got exposure for being unique, I guess, so it was perfect springboard for comments.”<\/p>\n

Somebody also posted the family’s home address to a viral site, and people threatened to show up at 3am.<\/p>\n

Apparently the biggest objection was that being on railroad tracks is dangerous or illegal.<\/p>\n

“I mean, we had no idea it was illegal,” he says. “I’ve never been on a railroad before. I’ll never be on a railroad again. We don’t hang out on them. I get where people are coming from, but I don’t think the message was well-crafted at all. There were less aggressive ways of communicating that.”<\/p>\n

Despite the vitriol, the family is looking at the shoot as a positive and lovely family experience.<\/p>\n
