Governor Arthur Phillip must have taken lots of selfies when he arrived on the shores of Botany Bay in 1788\u2026<\/h3>\n

That is, if the BBC\u2019s promotional photo for it\u2019s new colonial period drama \u2018Banished\u2019 is anything to go by\u2026<\/p>\n

In the shot, actor David Wenham, who plays Governor Arthur Phillip, can be seen posing in full historical military regalia\u2026 complete with an iPhone poking out of his pocket.<\/p>\n

\"iPhone\"<\/p>\n

Where would one even charge an iPhone in 1788? <\/p>\n

Somewhat coincidentally, Wenham gives his thoughts on the character on the BBC website describing “Philip as a modern man. I think he was way ahead of his time in lots of ways. \u201c <\/p>\n

Wenham continues: \u201c[He was] in fact, way ahead of a lot of people\u2019s thinking even now. He was somebody with great vision, with great foresight, and was also a compassionate man. I see him as a visionary.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Clearly, Governor Phillip was indeed a visionary, though evidently not an Android man.  <\/p>\n

The Aussie actor took the flub all in his stride though, posting the following response on Twitter.<\/p>\n
